New event for the craft calender

This week has been unbelievable!!! We have been so busy. I received a call on Monday asking if we would be interested in providing a craft marquee for the North Cambrigeshire show. We have been frantically trying to get costings together so that we can advertise for crafters and update the website. We have had a great response so far we are really looking forward to running this one. Can't wait!!!

Sunday 11 May 2008

I have been so busy over the past month I just haven't had the time to blog!! I attended my first two day fair on the May day weekend in a marque for two days just as the sun comes out. It was a good weekend though. I have been really busy making new items including a new range of crosses and some summer costume jewellery. Which went down really well at the fair. I have also got a small selection of my work for sale in our local village store. Now I just need to spend hours and hours adding all the new stock to the website.
If you would like to see the other new items I have made recently they can be seen on the Jo's Silver Gems website

New Bangles

Now our first fair as organisers has been and gone we can finally calm down a bit on the organising front and I can get back to making jewellery for a while. The fair went really well we had a reasonable turnout of customers and I think most of the crafters were happy. We are planning our next one soon but for now a bit of jewellery time. I have my first two day event in 4 weeks at Potton, Bedfordshire where I will be selling my handcrafted jewellery. These are a couple of pictures of some wire wrapped bangles I have just finished. These have been very popular in the past so I have extended the range of gemstones.

Purple aventurine wire wrapped bangle

Snowflake obsidian wire wrapped bangle

I have also made these bangles in Tiger eye, African Jade, Russian Jade, Lavender Quartz and Rose Quartz. This week end I want to try out some new designs for bangles and pendants so all being well I will list the pictures over the weekend.

Exhausted

I am absolutely shattered. We have been delivering leaflets all day for our first craft fair which we are running next weekend. I am so determined it will not be a failure that we have gone overboard on the leafleting and advertising. We posted 1000 leaflets today in the snow and rain. I just don't want to let anyone down. As well as myself there will be 16 other crafters displaying their own handmade products. I want everything to be brilliant for them all. I never realised what hard work it would be doing all the organinsing but I love it. I just hope it all goes to plan. But no time to rest yet now it is time to get on with some jewellery making. I have a repair waiting to be completed for a friend and a new batch of stones just waiting to be made into something beautiful.

More pictures coming soon

New Pendants

I have spent the last couple of weeks building up some new stock for my next craft fair next weekend.

Star Galaxy focal (Kambala) wire wrapped pendant . This pendant is my favorite I was going to keep it for myself but showed a colleague at work and sold it.

This one is a canadian agate focal pendant its overall size is 50x30mm. I love it.

Last but not least for today this amethyst swirl pendant is another of my favorites I have made this in several colours including pink topaz, blue topaz and smokey quartz.

I would love some feedback please.

Absolutely rubbish day

Today has been the day from hell. My website just seems to go from one problem to another. I used to have a nice cheap pay monthly site. It didn't look too good but it was functional. I listed quite well in Google, I got quite a few visitors and even made several sales. But being greedy I wanted more. So I went to a bigish company and asked them to develop me a new all beautiful site. Which they did using zen cart. This system seems to be the biggest piece of crap I have ever seen it just seems to be one problem after another. User friendly it is not. For everything I thought I should be able to do myself I was told that will be additional development. I am now seeking a refund or an amazing fix to sort it all out. As I now don't have any google listings, many visitors and even fewer sales. I am relying on my sales from craft fairs which are always quite good but I wanted a working website too even if only as a showroom.

Anyway rant over.

Day one blogg one

Introductions first, I'm Jo and this is my new blogg. I am closing in on the big 40 with two teenage monsters to my name. One living on her own 300 miles away, always on the phone with one problem or another but I love her to bits. The other still at home, this one a boy child never tidies anything up and always after a cash handout but also much loved. I have a wonderful fiance (got engage in January). I work full time in the boring hum drum day job. I love making silver jewellery which I sell through my website and at craft fairs. New for this year, I thought I would take the hassle out of looking for good fairs to attend, so set up my new venture running my own fairs with the help of the afore mentioned fiance. As you can see I don't get a lot of free time and I am going greyer by the day. But life is for living and if I didn't do all these things I would just be bored wouldn't I.
